Departure and Return Information:
- Departure Point: The ferry departs from the Port of Corralejo, located in northern Fuerteventura.
- Arrival Point: The ferry docks at the main pier on Lobos Island.
- Duration: The boat crossing takes approximately 20 minutes.
- Return Times: On the day of your visit, choose from a variety of return times: 11:40, 14:20, and 17:00. Additional return options at 16:00 and 18:00 are available from July to September, subject to availability.
What to Expect on Lobos Island:
Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by the statue of Josefina Plá, a renowned Spanish writer and poet born on the island, located next to the Visitor Centre.
Lobos Island is a protected Natural Park, offering visitors a unique landscape of volcanic formations, secluded beaches, and untouched nature. Please note that there are no shops or drinking water sources on the island, so visitors should bring all essentials, including food, water, sunscreen, and appropriate footwear.
Exploring the Island:
- El Puertito: A charming former fishing village located to the right of the harbour. It features rustic buildings and a white sandy beach with shallow turquoise waters, ideal for a refreshing dip.
- La Concha Beach (La Caleta): Located to the left of the harbour, this crescent-shaped beach is perfect for families and sunbathers. Its calm waters provide a great spot for swimming.
- La Caldera Volcano: The island’s highest peak at 127 metres. The hike takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes round trip and rewards hikers with spectacular panoramic views of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.
- Faro de Lobos (Lobos Lighthouse): Located in the northernmost part of the island, this historic lighthouse was once maintained by Josefina Plá’s father. The total walk around the island, including the lighthouse, takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
IMPORTANT REMAINDERS
- Bring plenty of water and food: there are no shops on the island, and the only beach kiosk is not always open. Be prepared for the whole day.
- Sun protection is essential: hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. The island has a dry, volcanic and rugged terrain, with no trees or natural shade.
- Respect nature: stick to the marked paths and take all your rubbish with you.
